This policy explains how personal information is handled when you visit No Garden Required or contact us.

Who is responsible

No Garden Required is an independent sole-trader business based in England. The site operator is responsible for deciding how personal information is used. For privacy questions or requests, email hello@nogardenrequired.co.uk.

When you contact us

If you email us, we receive your email address, any name you provide, your message and attachments. We use this information to answer your enquiry, investigate reported problems and keep track of the conversation. Please only send information relevant to your enquiry.

Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: responding to people who contact us and running the site. Where information is needed to comply with a legal obligation, that obligation is the lawful basis. Sending an enquiry does not subscribe you to marketing emails.

When you browse or use a tool

Our hosting provider processes technical information needed to deliver and protect the website, which may include your IP address, requested pages, browser information, timestamps and error or security logs. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in operating a reliable, secure website.

The growing tools process your selections in your browser. They do not require an account or submit those selections to us as an enquiry.

Cookies, analytics and signup

Google Analytics is not currently enabled. We do not currently use analytics or advertising cookies in the site's own code. Technical request logs used by the hosting service are separate from visitor analytics.

Newsletter signup and email downloads are paused. Guide sales and personalised grow-plan submissions are not currently available. We will update this notice before introducing new uses of personal information and obtain consent where required.

Services involved

• Vercel hosts and delivers the website and processes technical requests and security information. Vercel privacy notice.
• Zoho Mail hosts our contact mailbox and processes emails and attachments sent to us. Zoho privacy policy.
• Google Fonts supplies the website's fonts. Your browser contacts Google to load them, disclosing technical request information including your IP address. Google Fonts privacy information.
• Cloudflare provides domain registration and DNS services, which help browsers locate the website. Cloudflare privacy policy.

Links to Instagram, Pinterest and other websites take you to separate services with their own privacy notices. We do not sell your personal information.

Where information is processed

These providers operate internationally, so information may be processed outside the UK. The location and applicable transfer arrangements depend on the provider and service. Their privacy information above explains their arrangements; contact us if you need details relevant to information you have sent us.

How long information is kept

We keep enquiry correspondence for as long as needed to answer the enquiry and handle related follow-up. In deciding whether it remains necessary, we consider whether the issue is resolved, whether further correspondence is reasonably expected and whether records are needed for a complaint, legal claim or legal obligation. Information no longer needed is deleted.

Technical logs and provider backups are subject to the relevant service's retention settings and policies. Deletion from an active mailbox may not immediately remove copies from provider backups.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you can request access to your personal information, correction, deletion, restriction of use or a portable copy. You can also object to processing based on legitimate interests. These rights are not absolute and some apply only to particular types of processing.

Email hello@nogardenrequired.co.uk to make a request. We may need proportionate information to verify your identity. We normally respond within one month; if a permitted extension is needed, we will explain why.

You can complain to the UK's Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint. You do not have to contact us first, although we welcome the opportunity to resolve a concern.

Children

The site is intended for a general audience interested in growing food. We do not ask children to submit personal information. Please contact us if you believe a child has sent information that should be removed.

We will update this page and its date when our use of personal information changes.
